Children Drinking Alcohol to Excess

Children Drinking Alcohol to Excess
By David Forward

My opinion is simple, children simply need something to do. Many years ago before teenagers were invented, children left school early to take up jobs in the community and took an instant leap from childhood to working as proxy adults unless lucky enough to stay on and get useful qualifications.

The most likely types who would get into trouble on the streets today are those forced to remain on at school where they just cannot cope, they would most likely benefit hugely from training in practical subjects such as apprenticeships to the building trade and similar manufacturing trades but alas this country finds its self having lost the greater part of its heavy and manufacturing industries.

So we have children without money to spend and many hours of freedom on their hands after school and in the many holidays they get. Laws of the land prevent them from doing many jobs until they reach certain ages and much of the working world simply does not have vacancies for those still at school.

The parents of the street children if they are in work are often struggling in low paid jobs fighting inflation to pay ever increasing bills. They have had a long day at work and would love some time to themselves to relax. Therefore they can find it difficult to spend time with their children as there is no money left to spend on them and nearly every activity available to children costs money and often needs expensive travel costs to attend venues.

Its not enough for a tiny number to hang out in each others bedrooms as this often conflicts with other family members. Children need to meet in ever changing groups of varying size as their friendships evolve. Youth clubs can provide this facility to a minor extent but they are not open continuously as would be desired. They also are desperately lacking in sizeable premises with an abundance of activities.

Now if government wants to avoid spending vast amounts of tax payers money on the problems created by out of control children on the streets at all hours every day and night throughout the year right across the whole country. Then they should seriously invest hundreds of thousands of times the minute amount set aside for the yet non tax paying children.

It would in comparison be a drop in the ocean to what is wasted by incompetent fraudulent government ministers each and every day on their ill thought out pie in the sky projects. It would save the national health service billions of pounds wasted on the continual flow of drink related cases clogging up A&ampE and desperately needed beds wasted on drink induced diseased young people.

Prove me wrong but I think if we built very large youth centres with just about every activity imaginable available to have a go at and free transport provided to and from these places. Then there would be an enormous number of hidden talents emerging from the most unexpected children going on to put them into use throughout their lives. With so many resources provided for these places many being donations from local industry and involvement by the whole spectrum of society, I m sure all youngsters would soon feel a very respected member of the community.

Most of all I believe this can be done in many variations for less money than is wasted through bad practises and mistakes by government and the results would pay back all moneys currently wasted by all the authorities and emergency services currently fighting the problems created by disaffected youth and families on sink estates. The whole country could take a leap up the ladder of living standards with money being spent on the children of this country. Give children the desire to take part and they will pay back everyone with dividends.
